The Sparks Blue Sox Baseball Program was created to give high school players attending or interested in attending Reed High School an opportunity to continue to improve their skills outside of the high school season. The Blue Sox use separate travel team insurance covering facilities, coaches, and players. Our home field will be located at Reed HS where we have completed the Washoe County School District facility request forms.
Players from Reed HS are not required to be in the Sparks Blue Sox Baseball Program. Several Reed HS coaches will be involved with the travel team. There will also be non-Reed HS coaches as well. Here are the goals of the Sparks Blue Sox Travel Teams:
- Learning to play "team" baseball will be emphasized
- Have a fun experience
- Improve by playing games
- Improve player conditioning, speed, and strength
- Develop arm strength, and proper arm care
- Supply proper supervision and safety
- Find quality opponents
- Travel to new baseball locations and tournaments
- Meet other high school level baseball fanatics like us
- Provide college recruiters access to our players
- Give professional scouts a chance to evaluate our players
